Have you ever noticed that almost everyone has tried to go on a diet (possibly to lose weight, to become healthier or both) but that almost no-one ever succeeds. I personally can think of very few people I know who have gone on a diet and actually lost a significant amount of weight or become significantly fitter or healthier.
There are a few reasons for this. First of all, most of what people know (or think they know) about dieting is outdated. It comes from scientific research that was done decades ago. Obviously we (as a species) haven't changed in that time for that information to be useless (or 'out of date') now, it's just that it wasn't totally correct in the first place, and more recent research has proved this of many diets.
So what can we do to lose weight in this new age? One of the most effective ways of losing weight (when you consider how much effort you need to put in) is taking ice baths. Lying in an ice bath for around 10 minutes (I don't recommend staying in there for any longer unless you're a fan of hyperthermia!) will cause your body temperature to drop and you to start shivering. This will tell your body to start burning your fat supplies to keep you warm, and results in almost instant fat loss.
As well as ice baths, you might want to try doing 75 'swings' twice with a Kettlebell a week. A Kettlebell is a specially designed weight, and the 'swing' is an exercise where you swing it between your legs (using your whole body to move it).
